We recently discussed open-source, web 2.0 eCommerce software (Script) “Magento” - Its still beta and got updated today.
New version is 0.7.14800 and now includes new kind of installer and automated package upgrades, what does it mean?
When you download and unpack the installer package on your server, the installer wizard downloads and installs the latest available Magento Packages directly to your server. Since the installer has a smaller file size, you don’t have to upload every file to your server - it only contains the bootstrap files (the files necessary to run the installer itself, and basic configuration for Magento).
even already installed Magento shop can now be updated with one click from the admin panel. From now on you can go to: System -> Extensions -> Remote screen and view there installed and available packages, also from there you can check for upgrades.

Now lets talk about new features and (more…)

As you know, CMS drupal participates in “Google Highly Open Participation Contest” (if you dont, you can read it here, or if you’re lazy, listen here)
They already got 54 students completing tasks from Drupal project, so far 67 have been completed but there are still 97 task slots remaining.
There are fewer than 3 weeks left to propose tasks and fewer than 5 weeks left of the contest, so they call for help.
So:
Students may claim tasks until January 22, 2008, which means a couple of days before that is the last date that we can create tasks.
The contest formally ends on February 4, 2008. A few days after that, they’ll choose a grand prize winner who will make the scenic trek to Google Campus along with a member of the Drupal community!
You can view completed tasks here: http://drupal.org/node/205806

Yep, just like rapidshare.com . Amazing script named XtraFile (a.k.a. XtraUpload) allows users to select file, and upload it with progress bar (flash or ajax) after upload is finished it will display download/delete links so you can share your file with friends.
From admin panel, you control almost everything, you can set and sell premium user packages, limit free packages etc.
Last stable build is 1.5.6 - http://www.xtrafile.com/download.html
But after development of more then 7 months, Xtrafile founders made script opensource, moved to Smarty template engine and fixed bugs, its still nigtly build (and its better not to use on production servers) you can grab it here: http://xtrafile.com/svn/nightly.zip
Full source is here: http://code.google.com/p/xtraupload/
It’s not a big secret that DMOZ is corrupted so, why not start own open directory project? good part is that it comes with search engine, better part is that it has own crawler/spider and best part is that Astanda is FREE!
Demo is here: http://astanda.com/
Download it here: http://www.astanda.com/adp/

From time-to-time we all think of starting own job site, don’t we? But all we need is simple but nifty a Web 2.0 feel, very effective and intuitive script, based on php+mysql.
Recently I came across to this little and nifty script, its called: jobberBase and it is clone of www.jobber.ro Note that this site is in romanian, but script comes in english.
First things first and lets take a look at the feature list, you can:
as you can already see its complete web 2.0 solution and best of all
The easiest, award-winning cms has just been updated! If you are new to scripts and CMS you should really try e107 its very intuitive, easy and yeah - its free!
Speaking about new release, developers said that this is probably last release from the 0.7 branch. Although users been complaining about e107 releases being nothing but bugfixes or security releases, this is as well bugfix release BUT! this release makes e107 completly or 99% bug free and it is really solid release.
When new 0.8 version will be available? Nobody knows, not even developers:
So, when will 0.8 be out? Good question and we have no answer. There’s a lot of new code there, but not really any new features there yet either. However, with not having to worry about the 0.7 branch anymore, we can now devote our full efforts on 0.8.
as you can see there is no “new features” promise in that statement as well… unfortunately…
